Raiders hit by double defeat

Bracknell Bees 8, Romford Raiders 5
THE away woes continued as Raiders ice hockey team were defeated in Berkshire on Saturday night.
Bees made an early powerplay chance when Grant Taylor was pulled up for holding and Nicky Watt deflected a shot from Jaroslav Cesky deflected it past Euan King on 1:33.
Five minutes and 26 minutes later Raiders were level when Dallas Costanzo picked up the rebound after Dean Tonks’s shot was saved and lifted the puck into the net.
At 8:20 Raiders took the lead when Mikko Silvennoinen played in Captain Danny Marshall and he scored from close range.
Jason Buckman was harshly penalised for tripping on 29:38 and Bees made it 4-2 but less than a minute later Frankie Harvey set up Marshall who played in Silvennoinen to score.
Silvennoinen lifted the puck into the roof of the net at 37:14 for raiders and the teams went into the last period separated by just one goal when Andy Munroe won the puck in the middle and scored with a low shot through the pads of Adam Marashi on 39.06.
However, Raiders conceded on 43:58 and 57:29 to fall to yet another defeat on the road.
Milton Keynes Lightning 5, Romford Raiders 2
DESPITE having 40 shots compared to 30 from Lightning, Raiders were defeated at Milton Keynes on Sunday.
Raiders levelled the match through Silvennnoinen on 30:45 but then went 1-5 on 5:53 before Jason Buckman got a consolation goal on 58:11
On Saturday Raiders look for their first win in four matches away to Basingstoke Bison, face off 6.30pm.
The day after Raiders look to avenge this weekend’s defeat when they host Bracknell Bees, face off, 5.15pm.
