Police seek witness to crash involving girl, 9

POLICE are hoping to solve what happened in a crash that left a nine-year-old  girl injured by tracking down a mystery motorist.

The incident happened in Westcliff when a silver Ford Mondeo struck a nine-year-old girl on a traffic light pedestrian crossing on Bridgwater Drive shortly before 6:30pm on Thursday, July 8.
The girl was conveyed to Southend University Hospital where her broken knee was treated. She was then discharged and is now recovering at her nearby home.
Investigating Officer, PC Tina Quinliven, said: “We’ve recently spoken to a witness who states that they had been behind a silver car whose driver would have seen the collision, but who then drove off towards the A127.

“This information has only just come to light. Our enquiries may be a few weeks old, but we’re still looking to ensure we have all the information available so that we can tell this young girl’s family how the crash happened.”
The 26-year-old driver of the Ford Mondeo was uninjured.
Anyone with information in connection with this crash is asked to contact investigating officers at Rayleigh Road Policing Unit on 0300 333 4444.
