POLICE are appealing for witnesses and information after a fatal collision in Harold Hill.
At 3.40am on Sunday, 4 July, a blue Toyota RAV4 car was driving east in Stratton Road, Harold Hill, when it overturned at the junction with Dagnam Park Drive - it passed through a hedge and into the front garden of a house at Sheffield Drive at the junction with Dagnam Park Drive.
It came to rest on its side.
The ambulance service attended, and a young man - believed to have been a passenger - was pronounced dead at the scene.
He has yet to be identified. He is white, thought to be in his late-teens or early 20s, and wore a black T-short and black cargo trousers. He was of slim build and had brown hair.
A post-mortem will be scheduled in due course.
Officers from the MPS Road Death Investigation Unit are also attempting to trace another white male, believed to have also been travelling in the vehicle, who was seen leaving the scene on foot. He may have suffered a minor head injury.
DS Chris Osborne said: "We need the public's help in identifying the person who lost his life.
"Are you aware of a friend or family member who is missing, and whose description matches that of this young man? If so, please come forward.
"We also need to trace the person seen leaving the area. Extensive forensic investigation continues at the scene and we are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry, but we urge this person - or anyone with information on his identity of whereabouts - to come forward."
