Parking boost at wildlife spot

AN additional 75 parking spaces are to be created at a popular local wildlife spot.
Southend Council will make the spaces at LeighMarshes to improve facilities for commuters and visitors.
The improvements will raise the capacity of the car park to 140 cars and motorcycles.
A new charging system will be implemented and the Council is considering the introduction of an annual parking permit.
In conjunction with the parking improvement works the Council will improve pedestrian access to Leigh Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Additional footways will also be provided to improve safety for pedestrians and 35 trees will be planted along the spine road of Leigh Marshes.
Whilst the improvements are being implemented parking will be made available off Belton Way East, Belton Way West and in Belton Way Gardens.
