Braintree Town 0, Colchester United 0
IRON welcomed nPower League one side Colchester United to Cressing Road and shared the spoils in an absorbing goal-less drawin front of a crowd of 711.
The first half was evenly matched with a full strength Colchester side well marshalled by the organised Braintree defence. Braintree stepped up the pressure after the interval and enjoyed their best effort ten minutes from time. A Braintree corner from Robbie Martin was floated over the Colchester six-yard box for Mike Power. Power's headed was greeted by a mass scramble before the Colchester defence cleared the ball off the line.
Colchester's best chance came right at the end, on the counter. But Braintree defender Michael Alaile did well to match the breaking Colchester attack and cleared the danger.
Next up for Iron is a trip to Ryman League Premier Division side Aveley this coming Tuesday, 27 July, kick-off 7.45pm.
