Millers draw positives from draw

Aveley 1, Ebbsfleet 1

THE Millers again fielded differing teams in each half of Tuesday’s friendly with Ebbsfleet, as they had done against Welling, but they again came away undefeated against higher opposition.

In the greater scheme of things the reslt in matches such as this is of little importance, but no doubt as new Aveley boss Alan Kimble and his brother Garry try to build a squad virtually from scratch, they will take comfort from the fact they remain unbeaten at Mill Field.

In an even first half Millers took the lead after 28 minutes when a cross from the right was headed home by Mark Gobel.
But after the break Ebbsfleet started the brighter and Scott Ginty levelled the scores on 52 minutes after a breakaway found home keeper Matt Bennett stranded with a two on one.
With the changes affecting both teams there was little action in the goalmouths but former Grays keeper Preston Edwards. Performing now for Ebbsfleet, was forced to tip Billy Holland’s header over the bar from David Knight’s pin point cross.
Aveley are next in action on Saturday when they host Heybridge Swifts at Mill Field.
