A 19 year old man has been hospitalised after being assaulted by a group of drunk teenagers in Benfleet.
Police are appealing for help from the public after the victim suffered a serious assault in Benfleet on Friday, 27 April.
At about 11.10 pm the 19-year-old man was assaulted by a group of about 8 teenagers aged about 16 or 17 at the junction of Clifton Avenue and South View Avenue in Benfleet.
The victim had to be treated in hospital for severe facial injuries.
The victim remembers that the group included two young women and one black youth. Some of the group seemed to be aggressively drunk.
Police are particularly interested to get any information about a white youth who ran off in the direction of the High Road, brandishing a piece of white-painted wood about 2 feet long by 8 inches wide.
He is described as about 16 or 17 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, of thin build with longish curly blond hair.
