WITH the summer half term approaching, it’s a great time to get together with the family and enjoy the sunshine.
According to research from the National Family Week, the average family spends just 49 minutes a day together, yet 53% of parents in the South East, including Essex, would love to see more of each other.
So, with National Family Week running from 31 May to 6 June, now’s the time to make it happen.
Kevin Steele, co-founder of National Family Week, explains: “We hope that families of all shapes and sizes will take part in National Family Week 2010, enjoying the thousands of events, or simply spending quality time together.”
Indeed, with over 5,000 events set to take place right across the country, from picnics and film days, to story time and sports days, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
On Thursday 3 June, the Wishing Well Children’s Centre in Rochford will be hosting their very own Sports Day event and all ages are welcome. Call 01702 541460.
If your children enjoy a good story however, bring them along to the Abbey Children’s Centre in Barking for a Family Story Telling Day. The free event runs from 10.30am to 11.30am and 1.30pm to 2.30pm on 2 June. For details, call 020 8724 1262.
Or, if you’ve got some explorers in the family then don’t miss out on the special treasure hunters adventure! It takes place at Basildon Library between 2pm and 4pm on Friday 4 June.
Similar events will also be held in Chelmsford, Brentwood, Canvey Island and Rayleigh. Call 01206 245900 for details.
