Race for Life Winner

n Sarah is flying high after winning the Mini challenge.

Last week, The Enquirer invited readers  taking part in the Race for Life, Southend to take a guess at how many balloons we could fit in our Mini for a chance to win an overnight stay in London.

The winner was 71-year-old Sarah Kurlander, who managed to guess correctly.

“I was so shocked when I found out I was right,” laughs Sarah, who lives in Southend. “I just thought of a number and I was right!”

Sarah, who had a new hip fitted at Christmas, walked the 5k race with the help of her walking stick in 75 minutes, raising £45 for Cancer Research UK.

“I was walking in memory of my friend Pat Warren, who died a couple of weeks ago from cancer,” Sarah explains. “She was only 69 and it was all so sudden. But the atmosphere at the race was nice.”

And Sarah can’t wait to stay at the Holiday Inn London Elstree. “I’m really looking forward to having a nice little break away.”
