Happy with her Lott

Pixie Lott

By Nicola Moyne

EVER since Pixie Lott burst onto the music scene with Mama Do a year ago, the Brentwood starlet has gone from strength to strength.
She’s toured with The Saturdays, released a chart-topping album and made a bit of a name for herself on the fashion circuit. Which explains why Pixie is so excited to be releasing her first fashion line.
Working with designers at Lipsy, the singer has created two collections for the label: Pixie Festival and Pixie Party, and she’ll be showcasing them at Bluewater Shopping Centre on 28 April.
“I had a lot of involvement with the pieces – there really is something for everyone,” she tells me from her base in LA. “Pixie Festival is aimed at girls who love to go to festivals and want something fun to wear. In fact my favourite piece is from the Pixie Festival range – it’s a white pom pom dress and I just love it!
“I’m so excited to see other people in my pieces.”
However fans of Pixie’s music need not be alarmed: she’s still singing. In fact, she’s planning to tour with Rihanna this summer and will also perform at the V Festival taking place in Chelmsford this August.
“I can’t wait for the Rihanna shows, and I’m so excited because she is such a talented artist,” Pixie, born Victoria Louise Lott, trills.
“Last year I toured with The Saturdays and that was great because it was my first ever tour and the girls were really lovely to me. Touring is always fun.”
Pixie is also looking forward to getting back to her roots and performing to her home county fans, adding: “To play in front of a local crowd is very special to me.
“The support I got last year from all the fans [at V Festival] while I performed was amazing… thank you to all you Essex fans!”
Yet, during our chat it was clear that Pixie won’t be content until she’s reached a wider audience, and she’s working on cracking America this year.
“It would be a dream come true for people all over the world to hear and appreciate my music,” the pretty 19-year-old admits.
“I have been writing songs on my piano since I was really young, so it does all feel like a long time coming, though the sudden success has been very over whelming.”
But she seems to be taking all the attention in her stride and is even branching out into movies this summer.
Come September fans will be able to see her debut in Fred – a comedy in which she stars alongside Lucas Cruikshank, and later this year she’ll start filming her second movie, Sweet Baby Jesus.
“Being involved in Fred was fantastic,” she tells me. “I love acting, so I’m really excited about starting my second film this summer.”
Indeed, it seems there’s nothing Pixie can’t do. So are there any ambitions left to chase for the young starlet I wonder?
“Music is always my biggest passion so that would always be first on the list,” she tells me.
“The only ambition I have is to let my music be heard and appreciated all over the world, My first USA single will be out this year, and I’m also writing new songs. I have a busy time ahead!”
And I get the impression she’ll enjoy every minute.
Pixie Lott will be at the Lipsy store at Bluewater Shopping Centre on 28 April at 4pm to showcase her collection.
