Essex take 12 to the seaside

ESSEX have named a 12-man squad as they entertain Gloucestershire at Garon Park in the LV County Championship game today (Wednesday).

The hosts will be determined to win this  four dayday match in order to keep their promotion hopes alive.

Essex Cricket coach Paul Grayson said: “We are looking forward to playing Gloucestershire at Southend.

“It is a vital game for Essex and the result is important, especially as we push for promotion this season. The team have had a good couple of weeks and if it hadn’t been for the rain, could have won the game against Leicestershire. Gloucestershire had a good start to the season and are a dangerous side to face.

“They have a strong bowling outfit, but like Essex, have struggled slightly with their batting. It is a crucial game and a will see us determined to keep pushing right to the end of the season.”

Squad: Jason Gallian, John Maunders, Tom Westley, Matt Walker, Mark Pettini, James Foster, Ryan ten Doeschate, Graham Napier, David Masters

Danish Kaneria, Chris Wright and Tony Palladino.

The next home fixture for Essex is also at the Essex Auto Group Southend Cricket Festival, which sees the Essex Eagles take on Nottinghamshire Outlaws on Sunday at Garon Park at 1.45pm.
