Essex set for Sunday outing

THE climax of the Shepherd Neame Colchester Cricket Festival arrives tomorrow (Sunday) when Essex Eagles entertain Worcestershire Royals.

The NatWest Pro40 Division One game gets under way at 1:45pm at Castle Park, Colchester; gates are open from 11:45am.

Tickets, priced £18 for adults and U18s £9, can be purchased on the gate.

Essex coach Paul Grayson said: “Following the success we enjoyed last time out at Southend hopes are high that we can earn another win in front of the Colchester Crowd. We very much enjoy playing at Castle Park and we hope to see a bumper crowd in attendance”.

“This is another Pro40 game that we want to win. We aim to win every match until the end of the season. If we do that in this competition then we may be in the mix come the end of the season. At Southend we put in a good performance and we hope to do that again on Sunday”.

The Essex squad is: Mark Pettini (Captain), Varun Chopra, Ravi Bopara, Matt Walker, Grant Flower, Ryan ten Doeschate, James Foster, Graham Napier, Tim Phillips, Mervyn Westfield, Danish Kaneria, Chris Wright and Billy Godleman.
