CHELMSFORD will play host to international cricket when Essex meet Bangladesh in a three-day fixture commencing at the Ford County Ground tomorrow (Friday) starting 11am though the home side will be very much a weakened team.
Looking ahead to the match, Essex First XI Head Coach Paul Grayson says: ““We have played so much cricket over the past three weeks that we just need to give some of the guys a rest before we go to Holland next week ahead of two important championship matches away against Lancashire and Nottinghamshire”.
“It’s a good opportunity for the lads to recharge the batteries and to relax and get away from the game for a few days”.
“We are playing a tourist side and they will provide good opposition. Importantly, it also offers those players on the fringe of the first team a chance to show what they can do. There has not been a lot of second team cricket so far and so hopefully, the players will be fresh and hungry to impress”.
“I’m looking forward to seeing a few of them play and we will be able to judge the progress they’ve made and how close some of them are to being considered for the first team”.
Essex team: John Maunders, Billy Godleman, Jaik Mickleburgh, Matt Walker, Grant Flower, Tim Phillips, Adam Wheater, Michael Comber, Tony Palladino, Maurice Chambers, Max Osborne.
