An Essex teenager labelled one of Britain’s laziest after his appearance on BBC Three series ‘Young, Dumb and Living Off Mum’ is looking to change his ways after making the final of the TV show.
Unemployed Levi Gardiner, 20, from Basildon, has qualified for the final of the BBC show after surviving five weeks of work-related tasks while living in a house with some of Britain’s laziest teens.
At the end of each week their parents have eliminated the child they feel has learnt the least that week with Levi still in line for the winner’s prize of a round-the-world trip for two.
Levi was originally picked for the show after a home visit revealed his mum Lorna cleaned, ironed and funded a lavish lifestyle including clubbing every night for over three years after leaving school.
Levi admitted to often not rising before 4pm due to hangovers and was labelled a “mummy’s boy” in the press when footage aired of his mum squeezing his own spots.
But Levi is now looking to change all that and may have bagged himself a job working in telesales - although the show has had some unwelcome side effects.
“I have been in interviews where the interviewer has recognised me from the show – one even laughed!
“She then went on to ask me more questions about the show than the job,” Levi told the Enquirer before revealing he was not offered that position.
“I just used to lay about and not look for jobs then in the evening just get drunk down Southend or in London.
“Now I’m up at 9am every morning and am much more independent."
Filming on the show finished earlier this year and Levi said his partying ways have now calmed down after learning a lot while in the house.
“I still go out now but not a lot just Fridays, and Saturdays, and sometimes Tuesdays but nowhere near as much as before,” said the former self-confessed party animal.
“I have learnt not to take things for granted and my aim now is to get a job and get my life back on track.”
You can see how Levi gets on against his fellow finalists as they look to win a round-the-world trip this Sunday at 9pm on BBC Three.
