Diana award for inspirational student Alex

BILLERICAY School student Alex Tyldesley has been honoured with the Diana Award,  a unique lifetime honour presented to young people for their compassion and outstanding and selfless contributions to their communities.
Alex TyldesleyAward holders automatically become members of the Diana Alumni programme which provides them with the skills to develop to their full potential.
Alex, 16, has been chosen for the Award because of his voluntary work for The Autism Trust and for his mentoring and coaching of students at The Billericay School who participate in cross country and other sporting activities.
Year 11 student Alex (pictured with with Robert Orr, Chair of Governors who presented him with his award at recent ceremony at school) gives up a great deal of his time helping others and he quietly works behind the scenes fund raising tirelessly for those less fortunate than himself.  His fund raising for The Autism Trust comes from a personal desire to help those who are born with this disorder as it has had an effect on his immediate family.
Alex is an all round athlete who has competed in many competitions but his love of cross country has been passed on to his fellow students.  He gives up his spare time to help coach and encourage other aspiring runners.
Assistant Headteacher, Phil Parkin and Gareth Howells, Head of House and his PE teacher both wrote glowing testimonials about the wonderful contribution that Alex has made to the school and are thrilled that he has been recognised by the Diana Award.
Mr Parkin says:  “The Billericay School is extremely proud of our Diana Award holder and we will continue to make nominations for this award. The value to our young people is immense.”
