WITH the UK’s average dress size now a 16 and bust size filling a DD cup, the county is overflowing with gorgeous curvaceous women. And Becky Dickel is one of them.
Currently a contender for ‘Star in a Bra’ – a national model search for a curvaceous woman to model lingerie for Curvy Kate – Rayleigh’s Becky is having fun flaunting her curves and would love to be the face of the brand, which offers ladies affordable bras from DD-J cups.
Indeed, having spent years struggling with her body image, 24-year-old Becky is proud to have beaten off 1,000 other girls to make it into the top 30, telling In2: “It’s fine to have curves and a shape. When you look in magazines, they’re full of stick insects, but I want to represent what women really look like.”
And the 32DD researcher is certainly achieving her goal.
“It’s not just about buying underwear that’s functional, but clothes that make you feel good as a woman,” she adds. “I used to be a 34G and I could never find any underwear that was sexy or classy and it was all ridiculously expensive. I just wanted to wear what everyone else was wearing.
“I used to have a very poor body image and hated looking at myself in mirrors,” admits Becky. “The bras in my size were supportive, but they just weren’t pretty, so it didn’t make you feel good wearing them.
“I’m much more confident now and the bras from Curvy Kate make me feel more womanly,” she smiles. “It’s given me a personal boost and it’s nice that there is now underwear out there for real women."
And proving that she’s proud of her curves, Becky is ready to show women across the UK how good you can look and feel in the Curvy Kate range.
“I want to help ladies like me love their curves,” she adds. “I’m so happy that I’ve made it this far in the competition and I hope it helps to inspire other girls.”
The top 30 girls are now being put to the public vote, which finishes on 16 May. The top 10 girls who receive the most votes will take part in a makeover and professional photo shoot and these photos will then form part of the final public vote where the curvy winner will be announced.
