A POOR start cost Canvey Island dearly in a 14-15 defeat in the top of the table clash at Beccles on Saturday.
After going 0-15 down Island came back with tries from Brett Smith and number eight Dave Dennis but couldn’t score again and remain second.
Canvey look to pick up again in the home match against Wisbech on Saturday.
