FOR a relaxing experience that both you and the kids are sure to enjoy this summer, head to the Towngate Theatre in Basildon for the Essex premier of Beauty and the Beast!
Put together by the Players Theatre Company, Director Julie Robertson tells me: “People can expect a lovely set, beautiful costumes and just a magical performance, and it’s completely based on the film, there haven’t been many changes at all.”
The group have been together for 18 months, however they previously performed as the New Empire Players for 12 years prior to that.
“We didn’t actually choose Beauty and the Beast,” confesses Julie. “Someone else adapted it for the stage and then got the rights to the play.
“Then the play was released to amateurs, semi-professionals and professionals and you have to be the first to snap it up, we were either really quick or just lucky,” she smiles.
So, to have the Essex premier of such a classic on stage, the audience are in for a real treat!
With a professional choreographer and costume designer the whole stage is sure to sparkle as the cast belt out your favourite songs such as: ‘Belle’, ‘Gaston’, and ‘Beauty and the Beast’.
Beauty and the Beast will be at the Towngate Theatre from the 26-29 August. For tickets call the Box Office, on: 01268 465465.
