Being a 20-something girl in a modern world where achieving your dream career comes wrapped in a bow of stress and sleepless nights, means that life itself can sometimes be your skin’s ultimate nemesis.

And as a 23-year-old, who works long hours with the stress of constant looming deadlines, I have to admit that my skin is starting to look tired, dull and is becoming prone to break outs, which is something I thought I’d left behind in my teen years.

So, when I was invited to Elegance Health and Beauty in Hockley to try out Elemis’ new Modern Skin Facial, I couldn’t wait to see the results.

Opening in January this year, Elegance Health and Beauty are proud to offer a range of Elemis Treatments from relaxing facials, massages and even some general beauty maintenance, meaning the salon has everything you need for a bit of indulgent pampering.

After being greeted by the salon’s friendly owner, Rebecca Brindley, I was taken into one of the calming treatment rooms to prepare for my facial. Decorated in deep tones, dimly lit with candles and accompanied by soft music, I felt as though I had just entered a relaxation bubble free from the stresses and strains of the outside world.

Designed especially for 20-something skin challenged by modern living, the Modern Skin Facial promises to help soothe and rebalance skin, as well as reduce rosacea and regenerate skin cells.

And Rebecca, who is just 24-years-old herself, is a big fan of the treatment, quick to tell me what incredible results Elemis products can achieve.

“I love Elemis because they’re always bringing out new products and treatments to keep up with the modern world,” she says. “And this facial is perfect for anyone who is having to deal with the daily stresses of a modern life.”

Prepared for a relaxing hour-long session like no other, I was pleasantly surprised when the treatment began with a gentle foot massage, officially called the ‘Welcome Touch’. Softly smoothing her hands over my feet, Rebecca really made me feel at ease and it wasn’t long before I felt myself falling deeper into relaxation.

After gently removing my make-up with a Pro-Radiance Cream Cleanser, Rebecca applied a Soothing Massage Cream Mask to my face, before a Papaya Enzyme Peel, followed by the Visible Brilliance Serum.

Packed with anti-oxidants, rich minerals and vitamins, each product was applied with a careful massage, leaving me in a state of tranquillity that previously, I had only been able to imagine. Fighting off the urge to fall asleep, I have to admit I began to lose count of the amount of lotions and potions that were applied to my skin, however a shoulder and dry scalp massage while the Mineral-Rich Peel off Mask worked its magic really helped to release all of the built up tension caused from long hours in the office.

And when it was time for Rebecca to ring the Tingsha bells to signal the end of the treatment I found myself wondering where my hour had disappeared!

Studying my skin in the mirror, it certainly looked plumped, felt smoother and almost had a certain glow to it – now that’s something I haven’t seen in a long time!

Relaxing for a few moments with a glass of cool water, I made a promise to myself to return to Elegance Health and Beauty. It may be a small salon but Rebecca’s professionalism, knowledge and passion about the Elemis range is that little light that gives the salon its true sparkle.
