Air ambulance takes woman away after Billericay crash

A WOMAN was taken away by air ambulance after a crash in Billericay this morning (Friday).

At 9am two Essex County Fire and Rescue Service crews from Basildon and one from Leigh-on-Sea went to the scene in Gardiners Lane North, Crays Hill.

The incident involved two vehicles - a second casualty, a man, was released before the arrival of crews and suffered burns

Fire-fighters used specialist cutting equipment to free a woman trapped in her vehicle.

Crews were called by Ambulance Service paramedics to assist in cutting the woman free. She was trapped by her injuries.

At 9.49amthe incident commander reported that the woman had been freed and that crews were working with Ambulance paramedics to carry her to a waiting Air Ambulance.
