Snow White

FOR me, Kristen Stewart will always be Twilight’s Bella Swan. So when she took to the big screen as the classic fairytale princess Snow White, I wasn’t quite convinced – could Snow White really transform into Stewart’s signature angst driven teenager?

It turns out she can.

Starring alongside Charlize Theron as the wicked Queen Ravenna and Chris Hemsworth as the nameless Huntsman, this is certainly a darker tale than the Disney fairy story. And I have to admit, despite Theron’s incredibly dramatic and sinister performance as the Queen, the first 45 minutes did seem to drag.

It was only when the seven dwarves made their comic appearance I was relieved to see a little humour.

Yet, with such a long and drawn out build up to the final climactic scene, I couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed as the battle between the Queen and Snow White diminished into, well nothing.

Instead of being sweet and juicy, the film left more of a rotten taste in my mouth - much like the poisoned apple.
